2013 Louisiana Guidelines

As everything in life, our sport and organization is ever-evolving.  There are a few changes for the NPC Louisiana  2013 shows and divisions listed below:

1.  For 2013,  there will be NO JUNIOR Bodybuilding divisions offered in our NPC LOUISIANA events.  MEN'S BODYBUILDING WILL OFFER:

      OPEN   AND  NOVICE-
NOVICE - ANYONE WHO HAS NOT YET PLACED IN AN OPEN CATEGORY IS
ELIGIBLE FOR THE NOVICE DIVISION.

2.  PLEASE NOTE -  If you are unable to purchase your 2013 NPC membership 4-6 weeks in advance of competition,  we strongly advise you to simply purchase your membership at the weigh-in/ check-in prior to your competition.

3.  A few words to clarify a change in our 2013 NPC Louisiana events:
NPC National office allows competitors to compete in more than one division at local and regional level events.  After discussion with several Chairpersons around the country that offer this option in their districts, I decided to offer it in Louisiana events this year.
After judging many shows across the country that offered crossovers, I have seen several novice men bodybuilders that also competed in MP, a few new female competitors that tried bikini and figure, or figure competitors that also tried Women's Physique.  I have received many questions from new competitors unsure of where their physique is best suited. Generally, after one or two shows, competitors are better able to decide which division is more comfortable to them and which they would prefer to pursue.

NPC LA MEETING/ CONTEST SEMINARS

Thanks to everyone that attended one or more of our Spring Seminars... We were thrilled with good turnouts at each of the four workshops. There were a total of  200 attendees.  It was a pleasure meeting so many new competitors and hope each of you gained info and confidence to assist you in your competitions this season.

Feel free to call NPC LA Chairman, Luke Tesvich at 504-439-6224 if you have questions regarding the upcoming NPC Louisiana competitions.

2012 NEWS RE: Women's Physique Division

The National Physique Committee addition of Women's Physique at the six national competitions in 2011 created a new division with new criteria and many fantastic new IFBB Pro's. WOMEN"S PHYSIQUE is being judged  with the following Criteria:
SYMMETRY,  SHAPE,  PROPORTION,  MUSCLE TONE, POISE AND FLOW OF THE PHYSIQUE
ASSESSMENT AND COMPARISONS WILL TAKE PLACE DURING PREJUDGING
Physiques should display all of the above criteria without compromising femininity, beauty, or flow of the physique
The following are examples of common bodybuilding terms that should NOT be descriptive of the Women's Physique competitor:
RIPPED,  SHREDDED, STRIATED, DRY, HARD, VASCULAR, GRAINY, MASSIVE, THICK, DENSE, ETC..
While all types of physiques will be considered when it comes to height, weight and structure, excessive muscularity will be scored down accordingly.  WP  will be judged as a standard between Figure and Bodybuilding.
Judging Format:
Prejudging - Individual 45 sec. routine with 10 second warning
                   Quarter - Turns
                   Mandatory Posing Comparisons/ Callouts
Finals -        Individual Posing Routine
Awards
Rules:
Suits must be two-piece. They do not have to be solid color. Bottoms must be V-shaped. No thongs permitted. All suits must be in good taste.
The following are the Mandatory poses for WP:
Front Double Biceps - must be done open-handed, no flat-footed front poses, must be some sort of front twisting pose
Back Double Biceps - open hands
Side Tricep with Leg Extended
Side Chest with Arms Extended
Front Ab/ Thigh with Leg Extended
Finals Routine will be maximum of 45 seconds performed to athletes' choice of music, adhering to NPC rules.  NO profanity allowed in music.  No props will be used.  No heels may be worn during the competition or judging of WP.
Each of the National competitions will qualify women as eligible for IFBB Pro Status in Women's Physique and there will be IFBB Pro WP events held in 2013. This is a great addition to women's divisions for those with more muscle than a Figure physique, but not possessing or displaying the amount of muscle development and definition of women bodybuilders.

NPC Men's Physique Division

The Men's Physique Division has become a tremendous addition to the NPC Louisiana competitions.  We hope the following information will give you an idea of the specifics for this division!
JUDGING  CRITERIA -  As directed from National Office
Judges will be looking for fit contestants displaying proper shape and symmetry combined with an athletic muscularity and overall healthy conditioning. Stage presence and presentation is important. This is NOT a bodybuilding contest, so extreme muscular development is not necessary!
Competitors will be asked to do quarter-turns in board shorts, (shorts must be just below the waist and to the knee) and bare feet. No spandex shorts and no logos or writing on shorts. Competitors will do quarter-turns individually and as a group for comparisons.
Height classes will be offered in some of our NPC shows.  It will be offered at the Promoter's discretion, but must be advertised on entry and contest information.
Competitors placing in the top 5 of  a national qualifying contest will have a one year qualification for national level events. Men's Physique will be added to NPC National events and will qualify winners to IFBB status!
